Spring has that feeling of being forward-looking and full of optimism.
The symbolism of Spring is perfect: of course weddings celebrate the journey so far, but far more importantly, a wedding is a celebration of a new beginning and shared adventures yet to come.
This week (whilst I wait for my cherry tree to catch up with everyone else's and erupt in a joyous pink froth) I thought I'd share with you some of the beautiful seasonal blooms I've been pinning.
My favourite spring flowers have a certain delicacy about them.
Elegant, often simple, yet with a hint of wild exuberance. I want to be transported to a secret garden where the first flowers appear before anywhere else, or the dappled sunlight of a bluebell wood.
I have to admit I'm not the biggest fan of brash, sulphur yellow daffodils, preferring instead a softer Spring palette of palest primrose yellow, the decadent plum and chartreuse of hellebores, or an abundance of whites, studded with pops of coral quince blossom or blue Muscari. And pussy willow: the softest little grey buds held on dramatic dark stems. Heaven!
I hope you enjoyed my little meander through the blossom and bulbs, I'd love to know what your favourite seasonal flowers are. for more floral inspiration head over to my Spring Wedding Flowers Pinterest board.
